      The Goodwins of Hartford by F.F. Starr, p. 67, in list of children of Joseph Collier has only the following on the daughter, Elizabeth- b. abt. 1675, living 1691.
     
      Lebanon Inscriptions (New Eng. Reg. Vol. 74) has "Mrs. Elizabeth Buell, wife of Mr. William Buell, Daughter of Mr. Joseph Collier of Hartford" died "Dec 7, 1729 aged 54 yrs." which seems to prove that the first wife of William (3) Buell and mother of all his children, was Elizabeth, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Sanford) Collier.

      Samuel Buell, son of William was born at Windsor, CT. After reaching man's estate he moved still further down the Connecticut River, and was one of the founders of the beautiful old town embalmed in Longfellow's lyrics. He was an extensive landholder, owning large estate amid the pleasant farms of Killingworth, filled many responsible public offices, and was a gentleman of great influence, as well as generous means. He had twelve children, seven of them sons, who, with one exception, married and reared large families.

      Samuel died on 11 July 1720 at Killingworth, Connecticut, at age 78.5

Deborah Griswold

      Deborah married Samuel Buell who was an active and esteemed citizen; freeman in 1664. contracted to hew timber for the Old Fort at Springfield, Ma. Moved to Killingworth in 1664 as one of its first settlers, where he became a freeman in 1669. He served as Deputy from 1692-1715 for 16 sessions. He was also Justice of the Peace from 1704-1720.

      Edward Griswold at the age of thirty one left Kenilworth, and joined a company of pilgrims for America, where he joined his brother Matthew. They both removed to Connecticut the same year. Edward settled at Windsor, on the Farmington River, and Matthew settle at Saybrook, at the mouth of the Connecticut River. In 1658 Edward was Representative for Windsor. In 1664 he removed from Windsor with his son John to Killingworth, Ct., so named from Kenilworth, his native place. He was elected a Representative for Killingworth several times, and died there.
      Edward Griswold was Bench & Bar between 1667 and 1677 at Judge, Killingworth, Connecticut. He married Sarah Diamond before 1672.10 Edward died in 1690.6
